New Members /Kononia Ministry

“For as we have many members in one body,
but all the members do not have the same function,
so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of
one another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that
is given to us, let us use them.”

Romans 12:4-6

Our new member’s ministry is designed to help and ensure that all New Members make a smooth and comfortable transition into their new Church family.  We provide new members orientation and  a new member’s banquet to celebrate their decision to follow Christ.  It is a special time of fellowship where our minister and our church leaders can personally meet and greet each New Member individually and collectively in a welcoming setting. It is also designed to allow our church leaders to share their hearts with the people of God in a small, informal setting. Each member receives a personalized certificate and notebook with all of the ministries, classes, vision, mission and functions of the church at the conclusion of the Orientation and banquet.
Each new member immediately receives a welcome package and a personal invitation to the “new member’s banquet”, where they will meet and greet the leadership of the church.  Our hope is that the personal invitation will help each new member feel welcomed and a part of the church.
We realized if a new member has no relationship with church members when he or she joins the church, it is exceedingly difficult to create relationships. Such is the reason why it is critically important for church members to become highly intentional about developing relationships with newly joined persons so that there is a connection with the body of Christ, sometimes even before they visit the church.
But it is also our desire to see these new converts and new church members become truly effective disciples for Christ.
And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship,
and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. Acts 2:42

New Members ministry fall under the umbrella of the "koinonia Ministry" which means fellowship.  Our endeavors are to welcome our new members to the church and walk with them on their journey of growth within the lord's church.  We partner with each new member and ensure that they are fully integrated into the good works of the church.  We are there to answer, assist and walk with them while they navigate to the ministry of their choice to become active and happy members of the body of Christ.

Koinonia (coy NO nyah) is a transliterated form of the Greek word, κοινων?α, which means communion, joint participation; the share which one has in anything, participation, a gift jointly contributed, a collection, a contribution, etc

Koinonia's primary meaning is “fellowship, sharing in common, communion. ... that we have fellowship with Him, The Southlake Church desires to work together in our ministries and more importantly work together bringing all to Christ.  Our hope is to focus within this ministry on our new members who have by of baptism, placed membership, visitor or have requested a study of the word of God to be brought into fellowship with the church and directed to ministries to meet their needs and their connection with the overall church assembly.  The ministries that are surrounding our new members to make sure that they are welcomed and surrounded by other Christians as they walk in their walk with Christ are our members who have dedicated themselves through other ministries to work with our new babes in Christ and our newly added members to the fold.  The ministries and teams that work hand and hand to acccomplish this are our; Greeters, Visitation Teams, New Members Team, Evangelism Ministry, Fishers of Men Ministry and members!
